Google Reader To End

I’ve been using an app called “Reeder” by Readability on my iPad for some time to alert me to new posts on my favorite blogs via their RSS updates but since this app a merely a “client” (user) of Google Reader, it will cease to be of use when the Google service on which it relies goes away.

Google said, in essence, they simply had not succeeded in figuring out how to make a profit from this RSS aggregator service.

And that is how business is supposed to work.

So be it.

While I will miss the service – and need to rescue my links before it is gone – I’m glad to see some common business sense instead of asking the government for a handout.

RIP, Google Reader.
