Bullseye

The batteries in my quick access gun safe have died and wherever I put the primary backup key five years ago, well, it just ain’t there, or here, or anywhere else I’ve looked.

After two Timed Fire shots in the centerfire portion of yesterday’s 1800 “postal”, the slide of my 1911 failed to travel forward. I looked quickly to see if it was something I should clear and continue but when I saw the shell of round #2 still in the gun but not attached to the slide, I knew I had some sort of extraction problem. “Slap, rack, bang” would not succeed.

In the centerfire portion of today’s L Match, I fired six 99s in a row. Annoyed, I announced, “the next one will be a 100.”

The handgun is the air soft 1911 I’ve mentioned before. It’s Sayonara for pigeons and Grackles, but only if I aim very carefully.

Air Soft Head Shot

My CO2 powered air soft 1911 will deliver a fatal hit to birds, but only if it’s a head shot. That’s about the equivalent of hitting the X ring in Bullseye; if I do my part, it can be done.

I was there last year and had a great time. Bring something to shoot, something free-standing to shoot at, or just show up. There will be plenty of firearms to try and lots of good folks to show you how.

This was the defiant refusal by the greeks at Thermopylae when told to lay down their arms by Persian invaders. While the defenders were eventually annihilated by overwhelming numbers, the three day battle enabled the evacuation of Athens and saved many lives.
