We feed, clothe, house and educate our children so they can eventually fend for themselves. “Cutting the cord” happens in stages. Potty training is an event that signals progress along this path. Getting a drivers license is another as is moving out.

I remember the shot. It started with a good hold, in the X ring. But it was like someone then started a wrestling match as the front sight slew around in an ever widening corkscrew motion and, before I could command “Stop!” to abort the shot, it went “Bang!” into the dirt.

In my last two competitions, I noted a marked improvement in scores, presumably because I had no coffee those mornings. My hold was steadier, my X-ring time was longer and my scores were better.

So Tony Brong, seen here calling the line, said we would continue “old school” - he would call the “Fire!” and “Cease Fire!” on static targets.

CMP now has a walk-in store at Camp Perry - and it is open today. Can’t pass up an opportunity like that!

My work schedule has me in Detroit next week (when election results come out). Hopefully I’ve also found a local league there to shoot, one gun, on a Thursday evening.

Geometry says more but, for practiced shooters, it will be 1/2" or, in some cases, maybe even less!
