Family

My great-grandfather Skinner, like his Skinner ancestors, was rather short. Indeed, when we went to visit our Skinner roots near Barnstaple in England, my wife had to put Post-It notes saying “Duck!” on all the door frames because I was too tall and kept bumping my forehead.

It is a tradition that wives and then children take on the father’s surname. While we could debate why this is, the fact remains it is now and has been for most of recorded history, a common practice.

By the time summer is over, I’m expecting this to grow by 50%.

Plan:

  • Card,
  • Present,
  • “I love you”,
  • Six guns and ammo,
  • Concealed carry,
  • Starbucks,
  • Use $2 bills,
  • Range,
  • Foul barrels,
  • Sight in,
  • Home,
  • “I love you”, and
  • Honey-do list.

Yep, sounds complete.

For example, the comment, “He was an alcoholic and womanizer,” may have been stated by someone and recorded in the raw notes that I review. Does that belong in the family story?

Norman and Sunny.

Norman is, like many cairns, sharp. He has that look in his eye and, when you talk to him, he cocks his head to the side listening. But he’s also getting older now and sleeps lighter with more naps through the day. I envy him that.

A couple of months ago when the posts were put in, a piece of electrical conduit was set through the foundation and running out about three feet at a 45 degree angle for the future wiring.
