I recently helped a friend set up a website to showcase her writing. We chose WordPress.com for several reasons including the availability of themes that are, in my (and her) opinion, a little more professional looking than what you’ll find at Blogger.

Well, this process is what Bullseye shooters do to develop a successful shot plan: We write the steps down, follow those steps and, when something doesn’t work, we figure out how to change that shot plan so we do it right. And then we write down the new shot plan and follow it.

It was surprising to recently get a rental car with the license, “653 YRS” because, while I haven’t been teaching for that long, the last decade has definitely been the “ARINC 653” years.

The UAV flies at up to 60,000 feet and can “loiter” over an interesting location for 23 hours beaming live surveillance information to observers via satellite - the bulbous nose houses the steerable dish antenna that remains locked on the satellite to be used, some of which are in polar orbits and, therefore, in constant “motion " relative to Earth-side locations.

Apparently it was recently added to some mainland China “easy mark” list and was being probed with a new, non-human registration attempt every few minutes.

For example, the number sign or pound character ("#") is pronounced “crunch” and the exclamation point ("!") is a “bang” so “#!/bin/sh” would be read aloud as “crunch bang slash bin slash s h”.

For an hour, my toes touched bottom no more than for a few fleeting moments and, my ego is relieved to report, I was not alone in the deep end. Repeated blank looks were the only answer to the presenter’s occasional, “Are there any questions?”

The difference is in dealing with the inevitable “Oops!”

Amazon delivered “Drupal for Dummies” - every one of the “Dummies” books I’ve tried have been excellent - and the O’Reilly “Using Drupal” - also a publisher I like very much. The former will blitz me through the basics while the latter will provide the nitty-gritty when I need to go deep.
