After Eight Recording

Ed

Writing software and teaching it dominated my working years. I specialized in what has since become known as embedded, real-time systems. My employers were in the Phoenix area initially, and then later in Silicon Valley and Santa Barbara (California). The job put me on the road to customer sites all around North America and to many overseas locations.

Ed’s ancestors come from lots of places including England, Scotland, Germany and Ireland. But, in tracing his roots, Ed notes that with each generation the number of direct ancestors double while those using a particular name are cut in half.

Note: Ed Harris is the “Ed” in Ed’s Red; that’s not me.

All characters in my fiction are invented by me. None are intended to mimic or otherwise resemble any person, living or dead. Note, however, that when the story is based on fact, real names and events are reported as I remember them. Any errors or omissions are, therefore, my fault.

Do you need to apply a correction to a set of fixed sights? If you know how far away from center the bullets hit the target, the following formula will let you calculate how far you need to move the sights.

Several family members have contributed to my record of genealogy. While computers and the internet seem to make this easier, it also enables the inclusion of speculative information.

Genealogy

… is the ancestry and history of individuals. Many think of this as a list of names, birth and death dates, names of children and, maybe, where people lived. And, at least in part, that’s true. Those dates and relationships are the skeleton on which everything is hung but, I’m sure you’ll agree, people are more than bones.
